In the Forest, we desire to work with our natural environment, with regard & reverence to the vision of the Forest. We seek to use native (or naturalized) and sustainable solutions. As such, the following links contain lists of trees, shrubs, perrenials, and annuals that are recommended, and even encouraged as plantings in the Bridge Water Way Association. For those items (trees, shrubs and ground cover) that require board approval, you may submit a formal request in writing to the board via email or by mail.

Invasive species: Non-native plants that cause harm by spreading aggressively and kills or harms other species in order to self-sustain. Note, not all fast growers are invasive, and not all slow-growers are non-invasive. Examples include water hyacinth and dutch elm disease (caused by fungus transmitted by elm bark beetles).
Naturalized species: Grows well in our area after human introduction. Native to similar climates in various parts of the world but has been transplanted to our area.
Native species: Grows naturally without human introduction and little interference in our zone (5b).
Weed: Native or non-native plant not valued by growers due to posing a threat to agriculture and/or natural ecosystems. Noxious weeds in particular are considered a direct threat to agriculture.
